The median Queens electrician has one review

The median Queens electrician carries 1 review. In September 2026 we swept plumbing, heating, electrical, roofing and auto repair across six of its neighborhoods with the same instrument used on Nassau, Suffolk and Brooklyn. Four of them look much like Long Island. The fifth does not: across 107 electrical listings the median review count is 1 and 55 are rated below 4.0, where the median Nassau electrician carries 8. We assumed that was a borough effect until we measured roofing and auto repair here, which are not far off Nassau at all. It is an electrical effect, and it is the clearest opening on this page.

Who this is for, in a borough almost nobody competes in

A Queens trade business that is good at the work and has never been asked for a review.

An owner whose website link on Google quietly stopped loading and who has no way of knowing.

Anyone who assumed the borough was too crowded to bother competing in.

Not for: Businesses outside New York City and Long Island, and anyone who wants a service that reports on itself rather than on the market.

What the Queens sweep found

89 of 107 electricians have fewer than twenty five reviews

The median is 1. A business with twenty honest reviews would stand clear of most of the borough's electricians, which is not something you can say about most markets.

It is the trade, not the borough, and we had that wrong

Queens roofing sits at a median of 17 reviews against 17 in Nassau, and Queens auto repair at 153 against 107. Neither is a collapse. Electrical is, and nothing else we measured here is.

9 of 92 plumbers link to a website that does not load

The caller taps the link on the listing, gets an error, and rings the next business. It costs nothing to fix and it is losing jobs this week.

48 of 92 plumbers never surface for their own neighborhood

Searched for the best plumber in the neighborhood each business sits in, then read off where that business appears. Not in the first sixty is the order Google's business search returns, and we do not claim a cause.

35 electricians publish no opening hours at all

Google cannot show a business as open when it does not know the hours, and since it began moving listings through the day on that field, an empty one costs visibility every evening.

28 of 90 heating listings carry fewer than ten photos

Photos do not move ranking. They move who gets picked, and on a listing with few reviews they are most of what a stranger has to go on.

What the population is, said out loud

Every count is of listings that carry a website and show a gap on their Google profile, which is how the Nassau and Suffolk sweeps this page compares against were drawn, and all were read on 20 September. Two differently drawn populations are not a comparison.

How the local SEO work runs in Queens

  1. Your own numbers, free

The same signals, run on your business in your neighborhood, usually the same day. It says where you sit against the figures above rather than against a national average.

  2. The full audit, $350

Every signal checked by hand, the quick wins fixed on the spot, and a plain plan for the rest. It credits toward your first month if you carry on.

  3. The work, from $500 a month

Month to month, cancel in one email. The same measurements repeat, so you can see what moved instead of taking our word for it.

Common questions

Who does local SEO in Queens?
Mostly agencies that will tell you the borough is too crowded to win. The reading above says the opposite. When the median electrician in Queens carries one review, the bar is not high, it is just that almost nobody is clearing it. We measure your listing against your own neighborhood before quoting anything, and the person who reads it is the person who does the work, in English or Spanish.
How many reviews do I need in Queens?
Fewer than you would need almost anywhere else nearby. The median across the 107 Queens electrical listings we measured in September 2026 was 1, and for plumbing it was 30. The same trades in Nassau sat at 8 and 31. Both counts come from the same instrument and the same kind of listing.
Is this true of every trade in Queens?
No, and we expected it to be. Plumbing, heating, roofing and auto repair in Queens all sit close to their Nassau counterparts. Electrical is the outlier: a median of 1 review across 107 listings, and 55 of them rated below 4.0. Its median rating of 3.8 is the lowest of any trade we have measured in any county. We swept four more trades here specifically to check whether it was a borough effect. It is not.
Is Queens too competitive for a small business?
The sweep says the opposite of what most people assume. 55 of 107 electrical listings are rated below 4.0 and 48 of 92 plumbing listings do not appear for their own neighborhood. Plenty of businesses, very little of them doing the basics.
Why does my website link matter if people call from Google?
Because 9 plumbing listings in this sweep link to a site that does not load. Somebody who taps it does not usually come back to the listing. That is the cheapest thing on this page to fix.
Which Queens neighborhoods did you measure?
Astoria, Flushing, Jamaica, Forest Hills, Bayside and Ridgewood, in September 2026. Nassau has more trades measured and a longer history, so its page carries readings this one does not.
What does local SEO cost in Queens?
The free check needs your business name and your neighborhood and is usually back the same day. The full audit is $350 and credits toward your first month. Ongoing work starts at $500 a month, month to month, cancel in one email. Every figure is published on the pricing page rather than held back for a call.
