Brooklyn auto repair is the least findable trade we measured

Of 117 repair shop listings read across six Brooklyn neighborhoods in September 2026, 69 do not appear in the first sixty for the best in their own neighborhood. That is 59 percent, the highest of the thirty six county and trade readings we hold across Nassau, Suffolk, Queens and Brooklyn, all of them read sixty results deep. It is not for want of reviews: the median Brooklyn repair shop carries 151, second only to Queens across every reading we hold.

Who this is for, when the reviews are already there

A Brooklyn business with years of reviews behind it that still does not come up when somebody searches the trade.

An owner who was told to get more reviews, got them, and saw nothing change.

A contractor competing in the single hardest cell in four counties of measurement.

Not for: Businesses outside New York City and Long Island, and anyone who wants to be told the answer is more reviews without anybody checking whether it is.

What the Brooklyn sweep found

59 of 159 contractors never surface for their own neighborhood

Searched for the best contractor in the neighborhood each business sits in, then read off where that business appears. 37 percent of Brooklyn contractors are not in the first sixty. Not in the first sixty is the order Google's business search returns, and we do not claim a cause for it.

The reviews are already there, and they are not buying position

In three of the nine trades the Brooklyn median beats Nassau, Suffolk and Queens: 129 reviews for salons, 98 for med spas, 31 for roofing, 23 for contracting, and for auto repair 151, the highest median of any trade we have measured in any county. And 69 of 117 of those auto shops still do not appear for their own neighborhood.

A perfect rating that says nothing

The median Brooklyn contractor is rated 5.0, and 25 of them hold that five on fewer than ten reviews, which reads as no evidence rather than as strong. 130 of 159 carry fewer than fifty. A perfect score nobody has tested is not an asset.

6 of 159 contracting listings link to a site that does not load

The caller taps the link, gets an error, and rings the next business. Nearly one listing in five, and it costs nothing to fix.

Electrical is the one trade with no reviews to speak of

Across 115 electrical listings the median review count is 2 and 47 are rated below 4.0. It is the exception in a borough that is otherwise well reviewed, which is why it is the cheapest trade here to stand clear of.

What the population is, said out loud

Every count is of listings that carry a website and show a gap on their Google profile, which is how the Nassau, Suffolk and Queens sweeps this page compares against were drawn. Two differently drawn populations are not a comparison. The thirty six cells are four counties by nine trades, and the Nassau figures come from a longer-running roster than the other three.

The local SEO work, start to finish

  1. Your own numbers, free

The same signals run on your business in your Brooklyn neighborhood, usually the same day. It says where you sit against the borough figures above rather than against a national average.

  2. The full audit, $350

Every signal checked by hand. On a listing that already carries reviews, most of the findable gap is in the things nobody looks at, so this is where it turns up. It credits toward your first month if you carry on.

  3. The work, from $500 a month

Month to month, cancel in one email. The same measurements repeat, so you can see whether the position moved rather than whether the review count did.

Common questions

Who does local SEO in Brooklyn?
A lot of firms sell it here and the listings say most of their clients are not getting it. Brooklyn was the last of the four counties we read, and it came back with the widest gap between how hard the borough looks and how little is actually being done on the profiles. We show you that reading before anyone quotes you, and the same person reads it and does the work, in English or Spanish.
How many reviews do I need in Brooklyn?
Probably not more than you have. In three of the nine trades the Brooklyn median runs ahead of Nassau, Suffolk and Queens, and 59 of 159 contractors here still do not appear for their own neighborhood. The exception is electrical, where the median across 115 listings is 2. If you are already past your line of work's median, more reviews is not your next move and anyone selling you that has not looked.
Is Brooklyn too competitive for a small business?
Crowded is not the same as competitive. There are a great many businesses here and 59 of 159 contractors, 69 of 117 auto shops and 58 of 108 plumbers do not come back for their own neighborhood. Almost nobody is contesting the searches, which is the opposite of what the borough looks like from the street.
Why does the website link matter if people call from Google?
Because 5 plumbing listings in this sweep link to a site that does not load. Somebody who taps it does not usually come back to the listing, and unlike a rating it is fixable the same afternoon.
Which Brooklyn neighborhoods did you measure?
Park Slope, Bay Ridge, Sheepshead Bay, Williamsburg, Flatbush and Bensonhurst, in September 2026. Nassau has more trades measured and a longer history, so its page carries readings this one does not.
What does local SEO cost in Brooklyn?
The check is free and usually back the same day, on your business and your neighborhood rather than on a borough average. The full audit is $350 and credits toward your first month. Ongoing work starts at $500 a month, month to month, cancel in one email. All of it is on the pricing page.
